Oil on wood. Turkish or Gypsy Girl in an ornate gold painted wood frame. 11x18 in frame
An 82 year old friend gave it to me. It was in her downtown Brooklyn family home and was acquired by her parents or grandparents, she’s not sure which.

Dear Nicole,
Thank you for the additional information and your patience. the apprized object is a painting made in oil on board with the measurements 18 x 11 inches. The painting depicts a standing woman with a jug and a tray with cups. She wears an oriental costume and the painting is titled on the reverse side "Odalisk". Odalisks was the denomination of white-skinned harem slaves in the Ottoman Empire. The painting is signed in the right corner with the name Ul. Guidi. Sadly no artist with such a name is mentioned in databases or auction record lists. This painting was made in the late 19th century probably in Italy or France.
An estimation would be between 400 to 600 EUR.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
