Believe this is wood, maybe teak. Have hinge to lift lid.
Don't have it
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This is definitely a black forest wood carving of the late 19th century. The oval frame once held a small mirror. This appears to be the upper half of a black forest hall tree. There usually is an umbrella stand included, this might have been a variation to keep gloves and the like in. Or it was meant to be fixed to the wall and the lower part is not missing. The estimate is based on similar items sold at auction. There is a good chance it would sell higher than the high estimate if it turns out to be all original.
In comparison to the counter next to it I would think it's at least 36 to 40 in high.
You can see where it hinges in the back so the entire top comes up, was told the owners mom used to lift the lid and put a flower pot in the base. If you have any remote idea of what it might be I would appreciate it.
