Thank you for submitting your items for appraisal. These appear to be japanese Ukyo-e woodblock prints of the 19th century. The first print is by Utagawa Kuniyoshi ( 歌川 国芳) 1798-1861, one of the most productive printmakers of that era. The other prints are by Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858) and followers. Notable are the print "The Five Branch Pine on Konagi Canal, 1856 " and "Grandpa's Teahouse" in Meguro (目黒爺々が茶屋 Meguro jijigachaya).
Condition is an issue. These prints were inexpensive and not regarded to have any value at the time, just as comic books before they became a collector´s item. Some of the prints in your possession could be in a better condition. The estimate is based on similar collections sold or offered at auction, but there is a good chance an auction result would exceed the high estimate.
Hi, the estimate is for the Collection as shown. I would not have it framed, shipping is easier without a frame. Leave it to the buyer. Try to sell thru this site or a larger auction house who has handled japanese prints before. Good luck! best Klaus
Hi, thanks for your evaluation! Would you suggest I have them framed before I try to sell them? Also who would you suggest I try to sell them through?? Also I’m guessing your appraisal amount is for the whole collection together and each correct? Thanks! Matt
