It is porcelain that stands nearly 16'' tall and has a 26" circumference at the widest point. It is predominantly blue with what appeared to be lotus blossoms and other flowers in the colors of pink, yellow, and orange. Of course there are green leaves to accompany these flower blossoms. Around the bottom there is a border that is pink yellow and baby blue but I can't quite describe the design. Around the top before the lid there is another border that is baby blue with more pink blossoms and yellow and pink petals appear to be coming off of these flower blossoms. On the lid, around the edge is a border that almost represents the Greek keys with a background color of pink and the designs are light blue and yellow. The rest of the lid resembles the rest of the jar being dark blue with yellow, pink and orange flower blossoms. On the bottom is a red stamp unlike any that I've seen before and I could not find one to compare it to. On the inside there is also a Chinese or Japanese symbol painted into the side. This is something I have never seen before and makes this item even more curious to me

Dear Emmy,
You lidded pot is made in China in ca. 1980 / 1990. It is called famille rose after the central pink elements used. It is made in Canton, China and therefor it is also called Cantonese porcelain. Unfortunately the modern pieces are not yet very precious. Marks are usually not representative for the period the porcelain is made. In this case I believe mark is Kangxi ( 1662 - 1722 ) but that is only to honor the old emperor or express the quality of the pot.
