This is a vintage 20th century original pen and ink illustration art for a cartoon in a publication, from around Thanksgiving time, by American illustrator and cartoonist, Vic Herman (1919 - 1999). The notations in the margins in pencil are from when the editor/publisher was setting the image up for photography prior to printing in the publication. The backside of this may have the publication name and date stamped on it as well, if so, you could potentially find a copy of the magazine in which this was published. Vic Herman was a career illustrator and is best known for creating the Elsie the Cow character for Borden, Philip Morris' Johnny and Sad Shad for Johnson and Johnson. The estimate is for catalogue auction sale and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary. Insurance and estate tax purpose appraisals will also vary and are not provided here.
