H 9.5" W 5"
my father used to collect and I believe he bought it from a private party
Dear Zora,
Thank you for your request. The presented object is a porcelain amphora or urn with the measurements of 9.5" x 5". The urn is decorated with a blue and golden decor. It shows handpainted images of two cupids and a spinning lady on the other side. Under the bottom, this piece is titled "Der abgerissene Faden" which can be translated with "The cut off thread". Which is probably an allegory of the lost love. In comparison with your other pieces, the quality of the porcelain painting is weaker. This piece is hallmarked with the "Bindenschild" which was the hallmark of the Vienna Porcelain manufacturer which produced until 1868. After this manufactury was closed many smaller porcelain workshops in Austria and Bohemia used this established hallmark until the 20th century. This piece was made in the third quarter of the 19th century.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 150 to 350 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
