I've been told these were originals from the company TON who is still making Michael Thonet's chairs, recently in New York at the design show. Someone who was working the booth told me to sell each chair for no less than $1000 ea and that they were from the 60's. They are stamped *Made in CZECHOSLOVAKIA" and "DREVOUNIA" 2 out 4 have perfectIy tight good cane. I am having a hard time believing I could see them for that price and wanting to get a better understanding of their retail value?

These are a set of 4 vintage mid 20th century, about 1950's, bentwood armchairs with cane seating from Czechoslovakia by Drevounia that are made in the style of the B9 bentwood chair from the 19th century by Thonet. Two chairs have loose caning on the seat, as mentioned. These are collectible on the market, however, a NYC design show asking price would be significantly different to the fair market value at auction. Bear in mind that an ‘asking price’ is one that has not been sold yet and a true sale value is based on actual past documented sale records. You can, however, ask any price you please on any item you own, the key factor being finding a buyer at your pricepoint. The estimate is for all 4 chairs together and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
You are very welcome
Much appreciated, Nora!
