Chinese Art Deco (often called Nichols or Peking style), heavily inspired by the Chinoiserie textiles popular from the 1920s through the mid-20th century. It features asymmetrical flowering branches (resembling cherry blossoms or peonies) and a stylized Greek key or "meander" fretwork pattern along the inner borders. Hand-knotted utilizing a dense wool pile on a cotton foundation. Many of these rugs feature hand-carved, embossed detailing that gives the floral patterns a dimensional, raised effect.
