This is an antique, late 19th century, Victorian era framed needlepoint embroidery work. It is technically not a tapestry which made on a loom using a warp and weft, and can be produced either by hand looming or machine looming. This is a needlepoint which made by sewing color threads into canvas backing. It was embroidered by hand. It appears to have been stretched and framed later in the 20th century. The scene depicted is referred to as being "Orientalist" which is the term for depicting scenes and Arabic peoples from the Middle East. Needlepoint was a popular home economics theme taught in schools for girls in the 18th through early 20th centuries. These were often produced by younger girls from America, England and France. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
