A vintage YAMAHA GUITAR. My research shows this is the age of this guitar in from the early 1990s. The guitar was used in a Rock concert in St. Louis Missouri, in 1996. It is still in excellent condition, and plays very well. The guitar has signatures of many artists who played during the concert. Some of them are not in this world anymore. Some easily reconginzable names are: Aron Neville, BB King, Foreigner (Mick Jones), REO SpeedWagon (Beck Hansen, Bryan Hilt, and Dave Amato), Howard Kaplan (Turtles), Mick Jagger, Chucky Checkers and Garth Brooks
12 lb 3 oz, 43 x 18 x 7 in
Acquired in St. Louis, MO. This guitar was used in a Rock Concert in 1996. Then it came into the hands of a local govt. agency in St. Louis, MO. They did a fund raiser, and put the guitar on a raffle. I bought tickets, and won the raffle. That is how I acquired it.

Hello,
I changed a couple of the pictures. I also wanted to change the description to state that it is from the 5th Annual Blues Festival in 1996, but was unable to do so. I will send the rest of the pictures to [email protected].
I am contacting the Historical Society of St. Louis to see if they have any record of the artists at this Festival, and will let you know if I find out anything.
Sam
HI Sam,
Yes, please pass along whatever you can about the festival.
In the meantime, I've updated the description - is it OK the way I've worded it?
Thanks,
Delia
Hi Delia,
The changes you made look good. If you can change 'Rock Concert' to 5th Annual Blues Festival. I think that is appropriate.
I did get in touch with the Historical Archive dept. at St. Louis, MO. They provided me with a NewsPaper clip with the information about the Festival. It includes all the names of the artists. Not all have signed the guitar. I provided that to customer support (Maybelle).
Sam
It currently says "Blues Festival" - do you want it to read "Rock Concert" instead.
Maybelle did send me photos - I'll go print out the one of the newspaper clipping and see which signatures I can match up.
I think "Blues Festival" makes more sense since that is what it was. Let's have the Title, and Description with Blues Festival.
I'm surprised she didn't send the pictures. They are mostly close ups of the signatures. Obviously I don't want to change the main pictures.
I'd say we both get in touch with her.
About the signatures, sounds good.
Sam
She did send me the photos (THANK YOU!) and I spent a lot of time trying to sort them out (could make out John Zilke and Steve Shannon but the rest of them were too hard to read. Despite the sticker on the guitar case, I DON'T think this was signed by the performers at the Blues Festival because none of the names you listed were on that list.
The headline/caption for this item should be changed - you OK if I change it to read "Vintage Extensively Autographed Yamaha F-310 Acoustic Guitar"?
While I have extensive experience and expertise handling entertainment memorabilia, I am not a rock and roll specialist who might immediately be able to identify not only more of the signatures but also know where and when this might have been signed. If you'd like us to help you correspond with such an expert, let me know.
Hi Delia
Looks like the guitar was signed the day before (August 30) the concert, so either a performance on that day, or just famous artists who just signed the guitar before the Blues concert. The sign on the case of the guitar states so (which is also posted)
It is alright if you change the reading to 'Vintage Extensively Autographed Yamaha F-310 Acoustic Guitar'.
Will there be a cost associated with another expoert? What cost does a signature of a famous artist have?
Sam
Various artist's signatures are worth a broad variety of prices - I'd have to know a bit more about whose signature it is...
I don't know what the fees are for collaborating with an auction house expert on this - I'll ask and get back to you!
Sounds good.
I know it is not easy to recognize the artists from their signatures.
Hi Delia,
Did you get a chance to talk to an auction house expert yet? Can you provide status?
Thanks
Sam
Hi Sam,
We (not myself, another dept) is reaching out to an auction house to see if they are interested. I'll let them know that you've inquired about this.
Thanks!
ok
Sam,
I would be interested in helping bring this guitar to auction, if it still available. My email is [email protected]
Thanks!
Hello Nick. Yes it is available. I will send you an email shortly.
Sam
Hi Nick,
I sent you an email, but never heard back. My email is [email protected]. Please let me know if you got my email.
Otherwise, I'll send it again.
Sam
Hello Nick,
This is my last message to you. I will email you too. If interested to go next steps let me know.
Sam
Hello Delia, I wasn't sure how to respond until of course I logged in.
Q1) What can you tell me about the 1996 Rock Concert this was signed at?
a. There is a sticker on the box that actually says ‘The 5th Annual Blues Music Festival in Aug. 30, 1996’
b. The places was packed with people. There were other musicians, but these were in the Rock Concert part.
c. There was no internet at the time, so not much info, but St. Louis is big on Blues Music.
Q2) Without being able to list ALL of the signatures - are there any on the back? - valuation is going to be somewhat inaccurate. If its possible to send clear photos of sections of the guitar I can see how many I can come up with. If you can list more than the ones you've already listed, that would be a BIG help...
a. Yes I have a lot of close up photos of the guitar. How to I provide them to Delia? Also, there are no signatures on the back.
How can I upload more pictures? If you give me your email, I can email them to you. The only reason other artists are not listed is because most are unreadable (after all signatures)
