From family home
This is a vintage early 20th century, circa 1930, wall clock that is done in a French Louis and Neoclassical Revival style in a burled veneer wood case with ormolu mounts topped by a ribbon form. The face of the clock has 'Au Negre, Paris' on it. Generally, Au Negre, aka Au Bon Savage, clocks are figural gilded clock with a black male or female figure mounted on it. The face and works of the clock may have been removed from the controversial figure clock and re-housed in a French Provincial wall mount casing. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
