On the base of the pitcher in gold /222 The images on both the pitcher and bowl have a heavily loaded camel and two handlers one mounted and palm trees all detailed in gold and very dark blue. Both the bowl and pitcher are in very good order considering it date, no chips or cracks, appears to not have been repaired
I bought the two objects as a pair about 30 years ago at an auction in Thames NI New Zealand. The cost I have forgotten, maybe NZ$500 the objects came from a farm house
Good afternoon, Alexander,
Thank you for submitting photographs of your Wedgwood pitcher and bowl for appraisal at Mearto.
This is a very nice washbowl and pitcher set. According to the diamond mark underneath, this was made in 1878 and appears to be in very good condition, with a few minor chips etc that are more a consequence of age and use than damage.
These were part of the same set and really should stay together; though the market for late 19th century Wedgwood has dipped in recent years, they will retain their value more if kept together.
I hope this information has been useful to you. Please let us know if you have additional questions or concerns.
