This is an original oil on board landscape painting featuring willow trees and woods on the banks of a water body with a group of 4 on small boat excursion on a sunny, fine weather day. There are a number of listed artists with the name William Short. There are two who fit the time frame of the work being completed in 1910. William Wackenbath Short (1833 - 1917) would have been 77 if this were painted by him and William Henry Short (1875 - 1947) would have been 35. Stylistically, these two artist are uncannily similar and both from Australia; however given the tightness and sharpness of the painterly strokes, it is more likely this was completed by William Henry Short. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of work by William Henry Short. Retail 'asking prices' may be higher and vary.
