This desk is at the Mountain View Mausoleum (www.mtn-view.com) of Pasadena, California. It was owned by Cecil Bryan who operated his business from this desk as he constructed over 80 cathedral type mausoleums around the USA. He was mentored by Frank Lloyd Wright and the man that they call the "Bridge Builder"...the man who was a reinforcing pioneer and contracted the Golden Gate Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge and others. Bryan made numerous buying trips to Europe and brought back tiffany glass, artwork, etc for this mausoleum and others. This place is LOADED with art treasures, glass treasures and antique furniture.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
You have a Renaissance revival-style oak desk. The rectangular desk has an egg and dart border, fluted frieze and floral medallion centered to each drawer. While the desk is certainly a statement piece, the market for these revival-style pieces, particularly one such as this which lacks ornate detail, is quite soft.
