Silk scarf my father in law had with his military items from his time in. This is dated July 1937. It seems to be a scarf from a cruise ship that was used to transport troops.
My father in law , us army veteran of Japan and world war two
This is a vintage, 20th century silk souvenir scarf for sailing on a steamship. On one area of the scarf is the name of the original owner and a date from 1937 when the owner left port from New York. This is not a World War II related militaria item; WWII was from 1939 - 1945. the scarf features images of travel stickers which were usually placed on luggage trunks from the carrier. This has been, at some time, cut in half to make a triangle piece instead of a square. Possibly to use as a neckerchief or head scarf. The ends are hand rolled and the center has been machine finished. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
Ok did it. Front and back
World war 2 began in 1937, are you really an expert. This scarf came in a triangle , it was not cut. I'd really like a refund as I'm not sure who to believe
"Although the war began with Nazi Germany's attack on Poland in September 1939, the United States did not enter the war until after the Japanese bombed the American fleet in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941."
American troops would not be sent on a luxury cruise ship to fight in Europe in 1937.
If the scarf were not cut in half, then all the sides would be hand rolled and hand stitched. The cut side has been machine finished. There are quite a number of these souvenir pieces on the market, of which they are square, not split in half.
We sent military to Europe in 1937, July. Smaller part of war started in 1937. Many cruise lines were used to transport large numbers of troops. I asked what you were an expert in. Cause you did both my items, so I guess not really an expert. You are wrong. And ok show me one like this.

From s regular person, not an expert. I don't care of value, just wanted to know more but this site is a scam. No experts at all. You gave me information that I either knew already and then made up something. Like an eBay search. Lol.waiting for pics of similar objects. Still want a refund
Oh and my father in law, John currie, never went on a cruise, he had no money his whole life. I'll research passenger lists myself.
