Thank you for contacting Mearto. This is a framed watercolor of YuYuan Garden. The painting itself is very well done, although the signature of the artist does not match with any well-known painters in China. It’s a very interesting piece. I’m particularly intrigued by the modern appliances on display on the left side of the piece. It could be seen as a symbol of the triumph of the Communist system in China in the 50s/early 60s. As you probably know, YuYuan was originally imperial palace grounds, so the workers have taken it over and made it more accessible, and more efficient (?)
It’s well-balanced, large, detailed, and the painting technique is skillful. Based on sales of similar works, the Fair Market Value of this piece is between $400 and $500.
