I believe it's silk, it's 14ft x 26 ft roughly. The fringes are integral, however, one side of the rug, the fringes have been cut off. I can send pictures of the design and motif.
Came with a home we purchased. Was told it was valuable.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a 20th century oversized persian Ghom Qum Qom rug depicting scenes of animals hunting, of predominantly sand and salmon colours with turquoise, dark red and greens. The size is exceptional, which is both an advantage and disadvantage. The estimate is based on similar offered or sold at auction. Prices in the trade and especially in Arab countries are higher and can vary. This rug would be perfect for export to Arab countries, only there some of the asking prices you might have found online can be a market value.
Klaus, thanks for your appraisal. As I do more research, I've seen more similar pieces come from Qom. I'm curious what drew you to Nain over Qom and why similar pieces retail around $25,000 USD. Do these not maintain much value? Did you base the estimate reduction on condition?
