My grandmother stated that the crocheted afghan was made by her great-great aunt Sally Ingraham in 1808. Sally Ingraham lived from 1799-1890 & would have created the granny square afghan when she was 9 years old in 1808. It is made of a very fine wool, 66" x 66", & has only one repair near the center of the blanket. Also, there is a row of black that is missing on the border near one corner. Other than that, it appears to be in very good shape.

it is not uncommon for family history to get a little distorted; this style of crocheting was not popular until the late 19th Century so while it may have been made by Sally Ingraham, it was more likely made when she was an adult rather than as a child. Other evidence supporting that claim is these colors would not have remained so bright if this had been made more than 200 years ago.
