1860 tower 2 band 33in. barrel muzzleloader built buy the Beasley brothers
unknown
Dear John,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a British Tower percussion lock rifle with a 33-inch barrel. It is dated 1860, has the crown VR guarantee mark, and was probably exported to North America shortly after this date. Such rifles of British production were imported by both sides during the American Civil War. This rifled musket appears to be the Enfield Pattern 1853 rifle-musket which is not to decide on the base of images.
This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 600 to 1200 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
