1969 Vega Banjo
Banjo in original perfect condition. Orginal case, head, everything is original, care sheets from Vega. Serial number NO.A-102870 Model FR-5.
It was owned by my great aunt's husband. He never played it. It's been in case in closet since late 70's.

Based on the photographs and information provided, the subject of this appraisal is a Vega Folk Ranger FR-5 banjo with original case and accompanying documentation. The serial number of the piece is A-102870 placing the date of manufacture at 1961. The A denotes an adjustable truss rod is present in the banjo.
As for the history of Vega of Boston, the company operated from 1889 to the 1980s and the brand was resurrected by the Deering Company in 1989.
The Folk Ranger FR-5 model was one of the company's lower price-point pieces and features an open back, five strings and dot markers on the fretboard.
