Remojada Totonaca Estado de Vera Cruz circa 1000 A.D. Remojada or Rewet funerary figures, possibly so designated because they were lightly fired, and then re-moistened for further working; possibly so named for the village of Remojada, Vera Cruz, where such figures were first found by archaeologists. At the second firing, they were sometimes glazed about the eyes or mouth with a tar like substance. Found in tombs; they are supposed to have represented the family and\or retainers of the personage buried. Totonac Culture, State of Vera Cruz, c. 1000 A.D.
