My paternal grandmother was a wealthy industrialist with a taste for art and nice furniture. This piece came to me through my father. I was told it is an American Empire secretary bookcase, potentially dating to the 1830s-1860s. AI certainly perked up when presented pictures of this piece versus my other breakfront, which is a standard solid oak Pennsylvania House piece. As you can see, the writing surface folds out. There is one spot of damage on the right side (looking at it from front). I documented this. I can get you plenty of other photos if desired, but it said here to limit it to four. This item is being shipped, so I need a USPAP-compliant appraisal.
