I purchased this in eastern Afghanistan from a different vendor than my other two rugs. This one appears to be in better condition and quality that the others. It is wool hand knotted on cotton thread base. Made near mazir e Sharif, I'm told. Maybe turkman design.

Dear Roxanne,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Your rug is a handwoven flatweave rug made our of dyed wool and appears to be in good condition. Based on its design, I would call it a tribal or Turkman rug. The center Medallions contain the kilim symbol for the Tree of Life, and the border has the symbol for running water and the pomegranate. Based on recent price realizations for rug similar to yours, a fair marker estimate would be between 500 and 1000 US dollars.
Best Regards,
Morgan
