A set of matching pistols made by Lacey & Co., London.
13 December 2020
Description

They are a matching set of muzzle loading pistols made by Lacey & Co., London. The are approximate 14 inches in length and weigh about two pounds each. I am not sure of the type of wood used. There is some elaborate scroll work on the pieces. The ramming rods are attached by a lever and the end of each handle has a lid that lifts for storage of powder or caps, (not sure which). They are in excellent condition and have successive serial numbers. They have never been fired. My mother is the owner and has had them for 70 years. We live in New Brunswick, Canada.

Provenance

This set along with some other firearms were hanging on her office wall some 70 years ago. Her manager wanted her to get rid of them so for two years she called the local museum but they never came to get them so she was told she could take them home. Rest of history unknown.

The presented object appears to be a matching pair of percussion lock pistols made by the manufacturer Lacey & Co. in London. These pistols were made in the early 19th century. The stocks are probably made out of nut wood and measure 14 inches in length
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 1.500 to 3.000 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
