Don’t know the maker but early, bronze, about 6 inches tall, seems to have the rite patina for an early authentic sculpture. Not sure who ground the bottom of the piece but figured I’d mention it….
Approximately 6 inches tall by 6 inches wide and approximately I”inch deep crescent shaped like a banana and seems to be a face
Hello, this item is a small bronze piece, about 6 inches tall, with a crescent-like form and a stylized facial suggestion. The surface shows a green patina typical of aged bronze, though this effect can also be artificially induced. The simplified form resembles abstract or modernist sculpture more than ancient figurative bronzes. The fact that the base has been ground down raises questions about its original use or presentation, suggesting it may have been altered or adapted from a larger piece. Its crescent curvature and minimal detailing do not correspond closely with known typologies from classical antiquity or Asian bronzes, which usually display more defined features and iconography.
In terms of value, if considered as an authentic ancient artifact, provenance and secure stylistic attribution would be crucial, with possible ranges from 1,000 to 5,000 USD depending on cultural origin. However, given the abstract shape, surface treatment, and lack of identifiable context, it is more plausible that this is a 20th-century modernist decorative bronze, perhaps produced as a unique piece or studio work. Works of this type and size without artist attribution generally trade between 150 and 400 USD.
