This is a Singer Model 27 "Vibrating Shuttle" sewing machine, serial number G1704299, which dates the manufacturing allotment to November 14, 1911. It was manufactured at the Singer factory in Elizabethport, New Jersey. The machine head features the "Lotus" (Egyptian/Tiffany) decal set on a black japanned cast-iron body. The machine is mounted in its original oak treadle cabinet, which includes the branded "SINGER" cast-iron skeleton stand and four wooden side drawers with Victorian-style metal pulls. Condition: The item is in original, unrestored condition. There is significant wear to the gold leaf decals and the japanned finish, particularly on the base and the arm. The metal slide plates and needle plate show surface oxidation (rust). The wooden cabinet shows age-related wear and thinning of the finish but appears structurally intact.
