I really don't know if this is Chinese or Japanese. Its a bowl with a matching something that today might be called a ash tray. I don't know what it's for. The pattern and feel is that it is very old. Its in excellent condition.

These are Japanese made for the Western market, or export. I don't recognize the mark but stylistically these are mid 20th Century and what in the trade is typically called Nippon-ware. The sugar bowl probably had a lid at one time; the other bowl would have been a receptacle for used tea leaves. Each is of pretty modest value.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
Two Japanese Nippon-ware painted and parcel gilt porcelain tea articles

from a larger tea set, comprising a sugar bowl and waste bowl
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition.
