Large, possible 1880's ?, china doll
It was my grandmother's doll, passed down to my mother who was born in 1917, then on to me when she passed.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a beautiful antique china doll. Such antique dolls are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The dolls head is made of china with painted face and black painted hair. The lower arms and possibly also the lower legs are also made of china. The body is made of either leather or linen and is filled with sawdust. From the looks of the dolls face, expression colouring I would believe that it was made in Germany around the 1880s-1900s. Germany had a vast range of doll factories and they were very crafted.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online toys auction, where I believe the China doll has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the beautiful doll. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
