Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a lovely doll. Such antique dolls are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The doll was made in Germany in the early 1900s. Without a makers name on the back of the head it is very difficult to tell who the manufacturer was as there were quite a few doll factories in Germany at the time.
The body and limbs of the doll are made of composition and papermaché. The head is made of bisque and is the most valuable piece on the doll. If there are any hairlines, chips or cracks in the head the value decreases. The clothes are all original as well as the shoes. This will add to the dolls value.
It is a cute doll however dolls without any makers name are rarely very expensive unless they are what you would describe as a character doll with a very vivid expression on their face.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online toys auction, where I believe the doll has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the sweet doll. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
