Oil painting measures 261/2" x 19 1/4". Painting has a hole near the bottom section. It was in a frame (no glass), and stored in a closet.
Painting originally hung in my husband's grandfather's home in Kentwood. His grandfather was Allan Sproul, who was head of the Federal Reserve Bank.
Dear Joanne,
Thank you for your help and your patience
The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil paint on canvas with the measurements of 19 1/4 x 26 1/2 inches. The painting depicts a British battleship with one canon deck of the 19th century with the British flag clearly visible. This painting is illegibly signed and was probably made in the first half of the 19th century.
This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 250 to 500 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Hello Georg- Boy, that signature is a tough one. Don't know if I got it any better!
