Hello Justin,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Turkish South Caucasian Runner Rug. The piece was made between the period 1940 to 1960. The piece resemble the characteristic motifs of the Turkish, Anatolian knotting culture while the allignment and the colours resemble the Caucasian tradition. The piece was knotted without a central medallion, instead the central area is decorated with continuous patterns of Caucasian motifs including ram horns, which are symbols of fertility and power. A common figure in Caucasian pieces. The central area was knotted on a dark navy blue coloured base while the borders were knotted on a white base. The piece was knotted wool on wool. The piece's knot densitty is quite low, indicating that the piece was a villager rug. The piece is knotting by using the symmetrical knots. The piece is in good condition with clear signs of use, age and wear. Recently washed.
Entirely hand knotted.
