This is a very old and rare Sonor marching drum that was created in 1891. Has some wear but is still in good condition.

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and description provided, the subject of this appraisal is a Sonor marching snare drum, circa early 1890s. According to the current owner, the piece was acquired via inheritance. The piece appears to be in original unrestored good condition.
Marching drums from this era are rare and auction records that can be considered comparables are sparce. The earliest Sonor marching drums at recent auction settings are from the WWI to WWII era, and top out at $400, but are not close comparables. The closest comparable was found on eBay, having sold in June 2020 for $177.50, but in worse cosmetic condition than this piece.
In consideration of the factors noted, a Fair Market Value (pre-auction estimate) of this piece based on comparables observed in the market would be estimated at $300 to $400.
I did add an image that may help. Thank you!
Thanks, Matthew. If you happened to mark that you are interested in selling the item when you created the appraisal listing, it should be available for our auction house partners to see in their systems now that the appraisal is complete. If there is any interest from them in listing the item for consignment, they will reach out to you. I agree with your starting with Reverb, and hopefully the right buyer will come along for you at the right time.
It only has the Sonor triangle stamp thats it. Also, for all my items I am looking for a serious buyer. Perhaps a wealthy collector or museum etc. Can you recommend? I haven't had much luck with Reverb or Ebay yet. Thanks!
