German crystal? Ashtray yellow
14 cm x 14cm x 5cm
Hello, this item is a vintage Walther Glas amber crystal ashtray, made in West Germany, most likely during the 1960s to 1970s. The original circular label reading “Original Walther Glas W. Germany” provides a firm manufacturer attribution. The heavy molded crystal construction, warm amber coloration, faceted polygonal exterior, and deep central well are characteristic of Walther’s mid-century decorative glass production. At approximately 14 x 14 x 5 cm, it is a substantial decorative ashtray that could also serve as a small bowl or vide-poche. The condition appears good from the photographs, with no obvious major chips or cracks visible.
Walther Glas remains collectible within the broader market for German mid-century decorative glass, although these ashtrays are generally modestly priced unless the form is especially rare, oversized, or part of a sought-after series. The surviving factory label adds interest and helps confirm attribution, but it does not by itself place the piece into a high-value category. Comparable labeled Walther ashtrays and bowls of similar scale generally trade in the lower three-figure range, with dealer asking prices sometimes exceeding typical auction or private-sale results.
Fair Market Value: $60–$100 USD
