I have Japenese Paperwork. There are 2 swords. Sword one has a 29" blade, Sword two has a 28" Blade The blades are slightly curved. I know there are technically 2 items, but because I cannot read the paperwork, I do not know which sword each goes with. If I need to pay a seperate fee in order to get a value for each please let me know.

Dear Jenny,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal.
The presented object appears to be two authentic Katana swords with the length of 29 and 28 inches. Both high-quality blades date before the beginning of the Meiji period (1868-1912) in the 18th or first half of the 19th century in the Edo period. Both swords come with expertises and export papers. The blade also comes with tsubas and hilts.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 10.000 to 25.000 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
Artworks with of such an high potential value requires further authentication research. This estimate is provided on the condition of authenticity.
With kind regards,
George
George,
I haven't heard back from you, can you please respond?
Thank you,
Jenny
George, both of these swords together were bought for over $20,000 in 2003, they are from the 1600 or 1700s. I am not sure this estimate is accurate as they should have appreciated in value. Can you direct me to someone who knows more about these swords?
Sincerely,
Jenny
Dear Jenny,
Thank you for your email. I estimated them as a set between 10.000 to 25.000 USD. The Edo period reaches from 1603 to 1868 which includes this dating. It could possible that they reach an higher price in an auction because of the perfect craftmanship and condition.
With kind regards,
George
George.
Thank you! This is much more in lime with what I expected. If I were to auction them, what do I need to do?
Thank you,
Jenny
Dear Jenny,
item to us for appraisal, did you select "yes" or "maybe" when you were asked if it was for sale? If so, your item automatically entered a database, which is accessed by a number of regional and international auction houses actively seeking new items for consignment. If there is any interest, they will contact you directly through our platform. You will receive an email notification if one of them makes an inquiry. If you selected "no" when asked if the item was for sale, you can change this so that your item enters the database. Just visit "my collection," select the item, then click the "edit item" button at the top of the page. On the resulting page, click "yes" or "maybe" to answer the question: "Are you looking to sell this item?" Good luck and if there's anything else I can do to help, please just let me know!
With kind regards,
George
George,
I am having a hard time trying to capture images of what you want to see. Is it possible to send a video? Also can you give some specific direction as to exactly what is is you need to see. I know that these swords are very highly rated, we have had them since 2003. We cannot remember all the detail we were told. We took them to the Chicago sword show in 2005 and people who sae them were very excited about them and their quality. Please let me know how to best get you the images.
Sincerely,
Jenny
