23β Blade, 34β from top to handle end. Carried over from Japan by a family member on a boat. One uniform piece of steel supposed from the geisha era royal family.
Inherited from father
Dear Dru - This is a Japanese WWII era katana, the handle bears the remnants of a sharkskin (shagreen) grip and the guard and mounts are gilded bronze (ormolu). The condition of this piece does affect the value and I would expect this to sell in the range of $400USD - $500USD. In undamaged condition closer to $850USD and up.
Let me know if you have any followup questions and thank you for your submission to mearto.
