2 1/2 in. × 19 1/2 in. Bronze Desk Blotted holder. Has an animated animal in movement from top to bottom on outside edges of both pieces.
Belonged to my father in law, he had it on his desk for years.

Dear Martin,
Thank you for your request. Regarding your description, this are two desk blotted holders made out of bronze or brass. The blotter which was probably made out of leather is lost. The holders itself are decorated in a style which reminds of the Book of Kells and the medieval book illuminations. There are two zones on each piece. One showing Celtics knots with crosses and one showing probably weasels. There is no hallmark or label visible and these pieces are probably made in the first half of the 20th century.
An estimate would be from 40 to 80 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
