Known for his exquisite wildlife and Native American-inspired bronze works, Rossi brings this traditional Hopi figure to life with exceptional craftsmanship and detail. Hi Jeffrey,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Your information on Mark Rossi is correct; I can add that he grew up in the Osage Hills, Oklahoma, with a deep fascination for nature—collecting leaves, bones, and watching wildlife as a child. His Southwestern heritage—Apache, Pueblo, and Spanish New Mexican—through his mother profoundly shaped his artistic vision while he was also heavily influenced by his father, Paul Rossi, who was a notable Western artist and former director of the Gilcrease Museum; young Mark observed him in the studio and foundry from age ten.
While I've not found this identical model having sold at auction previously, related pieces suggest a fair-market value at auction for this of between $2,000 and $3,000. Note this will be different from the retail prices asked by galleries and other online sellers.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
