Brumby rocking chair, mission style, very good shape, has original seat, and what might be original cover, with a printed linen fabric. Design is mushrooms and foliage in green yellow and brown tones. measures 33 1/2 inches high at the back, 19 inches deep in the seat, and approximately 22 1/2 inches from the back to the front of the arm rests. No splintering breakage or other functional damage. Some cosmetic scuffing and wear and tear. Solid wood and heavy for its size, appears to be mahogany perhaps?
The chair came from my maternal grandmother‘s home in Hemingway South Carolina and was put into a beach house at Surfside Beach South Carolina for at least 45 years. Always kept indoors, and has been in my personal home for the last 10 years in climate controlled conditions. Has rarely been used since I’ve owned it, but it is very sturdy and solidly built. I believe it was probably purchased somewhere in the 1910s or 20s.
