Captive Andromache print sealed in Edwardian era frame
07 March 2026
Description

Appears to be a print of sir Frederick Leighton's captive Andromache. Roughly cut and placed on board of some sort? Matting around hand painted in white. Mentions James wood of Nottingham bottom right and bottom left reads painted by sir Fredrick Leighton. Appears the white paint was haphazardly applied and covers some of the writing above and below the image. Sealed in frame with old paper and held in what appears to be authentic Edwardian era wood frame. Some cracking to corner of frame from age. One corner floral piece chipped off. Image appears to have been sealed in frame during the Edwardian period and has not been removed from glass
