Hello, this item is an original mid 20th century oil painting on canvas laid on board depicting a rural landscape scene with trees, open fields, and a farmhouse, executed in a naturalistic European style. The brushwork, palette, and compositional handling are consistent with Central European landscape painting traditions of the 1940s to 1960s. The visible signature and the handwritten inscription on the reverse referencing a 1954 date support attribution to Czech painter Josef Konency, an artist known primarily for representational works in portraiture, still life, and occasional rural landscapes. The handwritten notes on the back appear to be personal annotations rather than official gallery markings, which is common for privately owned mid century European paintings.
From a market perspective, works by lesser known regional European painters of this period and size, particularly landscapes on board measuring approximately 24 × 18 inches, typically sell between $400 and $900 USD depending on condition, subject appeal, and attribution clarity.
