China cabinet, dark wood, curved glass on front,
Grandmother
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a first quarter 20th century china cabinet or vitrine, mahogany stained solid oak (?), of good proportions, the front decorated with ionic columns on each side, the door at the front with slightly outwardly curved glass. Such china cabinets have been popular since glass became less expensive during the last quarter of the 19th century. It was a perfect way to impress visitors with your personal treasures (e.g the lovely art nouveau centerpiece which is now placed on the china cabinet). The estimate is based on similar items offered or sold at auction. "Asking prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
