Ericsson Display Monitor Unit 3111. 28x22.5
This seems different from other similar series online since it’s not versioned.
Dear Julian,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be the multiple made by Christo and Jean-Claude, (American, b. 1935) with the title Ericsson Display Monitor Unit 3111 Wrapped, 1985. It is a collage made out of a color lithograph with transparent polyethylene, staples, and twine. It is hand-signed and dated in pencil. This print appears to be not numbered.
Works by this artist were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 3.000 to 5.000 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Quick Google search shows the following listing: https://www.phillips.com/detail/CHRISTO/NY030218/329
It states “ Signed, dated and numbered 43/100 in pencil (there were also 35 artist's proofs), published by L.M. Ericsson, New Jersey, framed.”
You didn’t mention this was an artist proof and how that effects the price.
You also mentioned this is numbered which it’s not.
Dear Julian,
Thank you for your email. Indeed it is a bit mysterious why this print is not numbered. The signature looks authentic and the collage technique would be difficult for a forgery. So this could be one of the Artists Proofs versions. Usually, this has an effect on the selling range but I think it would be not higher than 5.000 USD.
With kind regards,
Georg
The ones you mentioned being sold are numbered. Why is this one not numbered and does that effect the price?
