This was found in an attic of a 1958 home triple wrapped and one of the layers was newspaper from 1945 so I believe this had never been opened. This is a portrait of a young man and a gold ring and watch smoking a cigar
There were paint brushes from Germany with this and a few other items in a red velvet wrap . The back is signed

The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil paint on masonite or cardboard with the measurements of 20 x 16 inches. The painting depicts the portrait of a young man in a white shirt and holding a cigarette. This painting is signed on the front side and reverse side of the canvas by Claude MARKS (1915-1991) and dated 1945.
Works by this artist were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 800 to 1.500 USD.
