It might be oak. It is 17 inches wide and 39.5 inches tall. It has a petit point seat.
I got it from a friend.
This is an early 20th century, oak wood chair done in a combination of the Queen Anne and Chippendale style from the 18th century, The cabriole legs have acanthus leaf design at the top of the leg and terminate in a claw and ball foot. The back splat is vase form and there is a shell at the top center of the crest rail. The seat upholstery, though it appears like petit point needlepoint is actually machine loomed like a tapestry. It depicts an 18th century courting scene but dates to about 1930. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
If you need more let me know.
Please add a more close-up image of a corner a the chair from the underside to show the hardware used for the joinery of where the leg attaches to the seat frame.
