14x9
Hello,
This is a Pre-Columbian-style ceramic sculpture known as a Colima dog, measuring approximately 14 x 9 inches. It exhibits the characteristic form of a chubby, hairless dog with pointed ears and a curled tail—iconic of the Colima culture of Western Mexico (circa 300 BCE to 300 CE). These figures were often buried in shaft tombs and are believed to have held ritual or symbolic importance, frequently associated with themes of loyalty, protection, and the afterlife. The surface features a dark burnished finish with reddish undertones, typical of ancient West Mexican pottery. This piece is reported to be in good condition and comes with its original purchase receipt. It is currently displayed on a high shelf and has been inherited by the client.
