What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and description provided, the subject of this appraisal is a C.G. Conn New Wonder series curved saxophone, gold plated, with a serial number of 60699, circa 1920-21, Elkhart, Indiana.

According to the current owner, the piece was acquired via inheritance. Condition of the piece via photographs examined is good to excellent used condition. The engravings are worn from use, but the piece exhibits no damage visible in photographs.

Vintage Elkhart Conn saxophones remain desirable, but are more often found on second-hand resale websites than at auction. Based on recorded recent sales of similar excellent condition pieces via Reverb.com, a Fair Market Value (pre-auction estimate) of this piece would be estimated at $1,000 to $2,000.
