What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry, and I apologize for the delay. This percussion fowler was made in Mainz on the Rhine river by Gebruder Lindenschmit. There is little documented about him, but there are some other examples of his work that are of a similar quality. He likely made the lock, trigger, and stock, and imported the barrel from Belgium. The barrel appears to be made of laminated twist steel. This piece is in fair condition, with most of its original finish replaced by a stable, dark patina. It is missing some parts, and exhibits wear consistent with its age. Given the condition of this piece, and completed auctions of similar items, a fair market estimation is 475-500 dollars. Please reach out with any questions.
