Doll face/hands are plastic or ceramic (not soft). Clothes are. It has a fluffy hat and metal staff. Stamp on bottom indicates eastern european or russian or armenian (we are armenian).
Was my mother's toy as a child. Just wanna know as much about this as possible. Interested in value but probably would be hard pressed to sell given it (apparent) ties to our heritage ... but maybe :)
Hi Rich,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I'm not familiar with this dollmaker or where they were located but from the label I can tell that this was made in the mid 20th Century. Regretably, these dolls have very little value on the market; it may be a case where the sentimental value outweighs its market value.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
Eastern European composition doll
third quarter 20th Century
With composition face and hands, clothed in a blond "cossack" hat, wearing a blue felt overcoat over a purple grosgrain suit, long cream-colored scarf, tall cream socks and black shoes, carrying a wire crook. On a circular plastic base with paper label.
8" tall. The base is 3" wide.
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: inherited
$50-75*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
