Unknown material type, but gold. 10" high x 4" wide
From TWA flight attendant travelling the world in the 50's 60's 70's
Hi Mike,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I strongly suspect this is not gold - it would be quite heavy if it were - but more likely brass; I've valued it as such, accordingly. You can take it to a jeweler to have them test the material.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An Egyptian Art Deco style cast brass cartouche plaque
20th Century, probably 1930s
The oval cartouche with molded edge centering four bas-relief hieroglyphics, over a base with applied stylized motif; apparently unmarked. Pierced at the top.
10 inches high, 4 inches wide
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: acquired by a TWA flight attendant in the mid/third quarter 20th Century
$300-500*
