13" tall; 5" wide wool hooded top with woven blue and white sash. Green trip on arms at wrist. Turquoise blue fabric hands, blue silky looking pants and fabric boots with felt boots at feet. Head looks like carved stone with features and is moveable. Hood is fur-trimmed.
It was given to me by a former girlfriend of my son's who has since passed away. She was given it by her mother but really never knew anything about where her mother got it.
Dear Carol,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Sadly regarding technical problems, the images and messages were not displayed. I apologize for the delay of the appraisal.
The presented object appears to be a doll made in the tradition of Inuit folk art. The doll was made out of fabric (wool), fur and a head made out of soapstone. This piece was made in the second half of the 20th century.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 20 to 60 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
